Aw Tsung Wai, MD
I’m the founder of Telehope Health, a telemental health platform.
I’ve been seeing US patients virtually over the last three years, and I’m excited to do the same in Malaysia. Apart from my practice, I’m a clinical instructor at Yale University School of Medicine.
Having grown up with a family member with mental health challenges, I saw firsthand how mental health affects family relationships, which sparked my interest in clinical psychology and then psychiatry. It’s so satisfying to see patients get healthier and become closer to their families!
And when it comes to social anxiety, it is a huge issue that stops a lot of people from achieving important goals in life. While most of us would have some anxiety when meeting new people, for some, the anxiety is too high and becomes unhelpful.
Psychotherapy techniques work for most people, but some of my patients use medication as part of their toolkit in managing social anxiety, and it’s been effective for them.
