Growing up in Malaysia, I only had a vague idea of Christmas — I always thought of it as a “turkey holiday”(turkey dinner was the one thing I kept seeing in my kiddo picture books!) 

When I studied for my undergrad in Canada, I finally got to experience what real Christmas was like. I also had the fortune to spend Christmas with local families and friends. 

In this article, I will share questions that will help you connect with others during Christmas: 

Small talk

  4. What’s your favorite Christmas dish/sweet?

Fun questions 

  1. Eggnog – love it or hate it? (Buzzfeed calls it “absolutely garbage“. LOL it’s not that bad) 
  2. Fruit cake or egg nog? 
  3. Stuffing or mashed potatoes? (Can I just say both??)
  4. Turkey or ham? (more food conversation starters here)
  5. Would you ever dress up as Santa Claus? Why or why not? 
  6. Would you ever do a Christmas swim or plunge?
