Growing up in Malaysia, I only had a vague idea of Christmas — I always thought of it as a “turkey holiday”(turkey dinner was the one thing I kept seeing in my kiddo picture books!)
When I studied for my undergrad in Canada, I finally got to experience what real Christmas was like. I also had the fortune to spend Christmas with local families and friends.
In this article, I will share questions that will help you connect with others during Christmas:
Small talk
- Any Christmas holiday plans?
- What do you do every Christmas?
- What’s the one thing that reminds you of Christmas?
- What’s your favorite Christmas dish/sweet?
- What’s your favorite Christmas movie/song?
Fun questions
- Eggnog – love it or hate it? (Buzzfeed calls it “absolutely garbage“. LOL it’s not that bad)
- Fruit cake or egg nog?
- Stuffing or mashed potatoes? (Can I just say both??)

- What if Santa Claus was real? What gift would you ask from him?
- What’s the most annoying Christmas song in your opinion?
- What Christmas song would you ban from the radio?
